KRAUS MIDDLE SCHOOL ADDITION--A
six-classroom addition to Kraus Middle School is under construction,
but wet weather throughout the spring and summer has caused several
delays. The addition, which originally was scheduled to be completed
and ready for occupancy by the beginning of the 2010-11 school year, is
slated to be completed sometime during the fall semester, according to
Freeman Wish, Clarksville School District treasurer. Wish said the new
classrooms, restrooms and storage facilities should be ready for
occupancy by mid-semester, although the move may be delayed until the
Christmas break to prevent disruption of classes. In addition to the
KMS classrooms, the district will begin the process of constructing a
safe room this fall, with bids set to be opened in August, according to
Wish. The safe room will be located between KMS and the junior high
building.
